What different types of calendars exist

1 min. read

ChurchTools offers three different calendar categories which help you to easily organise church life. Each calendar that is visible to you can be subscribed to via iCal and you can use external sources as well to fill your calendars using iCal.

Church Calendars #

The church calendars should be used for dates that are important to the whole church. You can set up different church calendars for different types of church wide events such as Sunday services, youth events, prayer evenings etc.

Group Calendars #

The group calendars are ideal to organise teams or small groups. Each group calendar is only visible to the members of the group which has been chosen when setting up the new group calendar. Additionally to the functions of a church calandar you can add meeting requests to plan and invite people for your upcoming meetings.

When adding a meeting request every person you invited will automatically receive an email informing them about the new request and asking them confirm or decline the invite. This allows you to figure out beforehand if the set time works for everybody or if you might have to change the date.

Personal Calendars #

Your personal calendars by default display your rota assignments, absences, upcoming birthdays and absences of members in your groups. Those four calendars are only visible to you and can’t be shared with others.

You can also create additional personal calendars which, like church and group calendars, can be shared with others and administered in the permissions management. You can add registration groups and book resources however meeting requests and events can’t be used.
