Visibilities determine who can see your group in ChurchTools. In this article, we explain the individual visibilities and what they do.

Public #

Do you want everyone to be able to see your group because you might want to display it on the website or mention it in a newsletter and everyone is invited to join? Then set the visibility of your group to Public.

This means that the information about your group can also be seen without ChurchTools Account if you link it somewhere.

Intern #

Is your group working on your congregation development, for example, and do you want it to be visible to everyone in your congregation who might want to get involved? Then the visibility Intern is the right choice for you.

This way, everyone who is registered in ChurchTools can see your group and the information about it and sign up to join.

Restricted #

Do you want your group to bring together people from your congregation who have a common task or interest? For example, parents of small children who meet in the morning to play or people who want to visit the sick together and pray for them. You can bring this smaller circle of your congregation together by selecting Restricted visibility and authorizing the group of people you want to address with your group.

This way you can reach the people you want to reach and ensure clarity, as the group list remains leaner for others.

Hidden #

With this visibility option, you further reduce the number of people who can see your group. Hidden visibility makes sense for more sensitive topics. For example, if you are recording the existence of a certificate of good conduct or people in your congregation who would like to make use of services relating to certain pastoral issues, it is good if only a very narrow circle of people can see this information.

Only users with at least one of two authorizations, the global authorization View group incl. its group members or the group-internal authorization Group with visibility “Hidden”, Groups are displayed with this visibility.
