Planning a church service with ChurchTools is one thing. But planning 52 church services is something completely different. Especially if you work in your congregation with volunteers who are chronically short of time, you’ll be glad for every click that ChurchTools can take off your hands.
With ChurchTools, you can create templates for both events and agendas. This will save you a lot of time in the long term, as you can start planning your church service with just a few clicks. With the templates, you don’t have to start from scratch every time, but can create typical roles or agenda items.
Create event template #
An event template serves as a blueprint for a church service. In it, you save the calendar affiliation as well as a selection of roles that are to be created directly with the event.
- In the Events module, click on Edit event templates(Help).
- Select a template to edit and create a new template.
- Select the calendar and enter the title and further information.
- Select the time of the event.
- Set up the service planning as it would look in a typical church service.
- Don’t forget to save
When a new event is created, you can use this template in the future and all saved information will be automatically transferred.
Create Agenda template #
An Agenda template shows the typical schedule of a church service. This allows you to plan church services quickly.
- Click on Orders (Help) in the Events module.
- Select Create new template.
- Name title and select calendar.
- Now create the blueprint for a church service.
You can now select this new template for new events when an Agenda is created.

Next steps #
With the templates, you are now prepared for the big planning session. You can fill a month, a quarter or a whole year directly with events. This means you can request the first roles immediately after the meeting.
As a date is automatically created in the calendar for each event, the church calendar is also already filled for the church services. Practical!
