FAQ About Web Chat

3 Min. lesen

How do I access the web chat?
You can log in to the web chat through your profile menu.

What does it mean to make chat rooms public?
This means that the chat room is actually public. Anyone who uses ChurchTools Web Chat—including users from other congregations—can then join this room and participate in the conversation.

Does the web chat also include (automatic) group chats and event chats, or do I have to create rooms manually for those?
All chats you’re active in within the app will also appear in Web Chat. So if you don’t see a chat here, you can join it via the app, and it will then appear in Web Chat as well. The same applies in reverse. All chats you start in the web chat will also appear in your app.

Is it possible to communicate across congregations via web chat?
Yes, it’s possible to communicate across congregations. You can chat privately with anyone you see in the web chat—even if that person is using a different ChurchTools system. If someone isn’t visible to you in the web chat yet, they can find their chat ID in their ChurchTools profile or in the web chat and send it to you. Start a new chat, enter the ID here, and you’re all set. By the way, this chat will also be visible in your app.

Why can’t I find some people from my congregation in the web chat?
For security reasons, people you’ve never chatted with in the app won’t appear in the contact list in the web chat. Please start a chat with this person via your app first; then the chat will also appear in the web chat. Alternatively, you can ask the person to send you their chat ID and then start a new chat with them.

Why isn’t Web Chat showing up in my “People” menu in ChurchTools?
This menu option will only appear if chat is enabled on your system. If that is the case, please contact your local administrator.

Why aren’t mentions with @ working properly yet?
Since they aren’t available yet in the app’s chat, they only work to a limited extent in the web chat via the chat ID. You can also access these features through a chat member’s profile.

Why can’t I add or remove a person from automatic event chats or group chats?
If the chat was created by ChurchTools, it is managed by the chatbot in the web chat. You can only add more people to these chats through ChurchTools.

Why can’t I leave an automatic chat room in Web Chat?
Since this chat room is managed by the ChurchTools chatbot, you’ll be added back to the room the next time Scheduled Tasks run in ChurchTools. The settings come directly from ChurchTools and must be changed there. Please contact the group leader or the person in charge of the event.

Why can’t I change my name in the web chat?
Your data from ChurchTools will be transferred to the web chat. You’ll need to update your name in ChurchTools, and it will be reflected here.

Can I create polls, and will they be visible in the app?
Yes, you can do this via web chat. Open a chat and create a new poll using the context menu in the message field . Currently, polls cannot be displayed in the ChurchTools app.
