Group information #
The group information is there to record relevant information about a group.
From basic information about the group itself, such as title, picture and color, to background information that helps to find and classify your group, such as group type, campus, category, age and target group, to individual information, such as founding and closing date, a description of your group and the day of the week and time of the meeting(s).
You can edit this group information in the settings of the Groups module, adjust the default security level and add new group information. All changes you make here apply to all groups.
You can edit them for your group via the group menu under Info.
Who is allowed to see or edit the information is regulated at global level via the permission View group info – up to the selected security level (security level group) and within the group via the permissions View group info up to the selected security level and Edit group info.
Group membership fields #
Group membership fields, on the other hand, record individual information about group members.
You can create these fields for a group yourself and then use them in the group’s registration form, for example, to ask about allergies and other special features that are important when signing up for an event.
You can also set security levels for these fields.
We explain how to create group membership fields in the article How to create/edit my own group membership fields?
Information on group membership #
In addition to group information and group membership fields, there are several fields that describe a person’s group membership.
You already fill in these fields (except the waiting list position) when you add a person to a group.
The group role, status and entry date fields can be seen by all group members who are allowed to see the person in the group.
Whereas the planned group exit, remark and waiting list position fields can only be used by users with the global permissions
- Manage groups – i.e. create, edit, delete and more (administer groups)
- Edit group memberships of a group (edit group memberships of group)
- Edit group memberships of groups of a group type (edit group memberships of grouptype)
or the group-internal permission Edit group memberships (Role, Status, Comment, etc.) (+edit basic group memberships) can be seen.
We explain how to fill in these fields and also the group membership fields for the members of your group in the article How do I edit the members of a group?
