CleverReach integration

2 Min. lesen

It can happen that the connection to CleverReach doesn’t work the way you want it to. There are two typical errors here that you can fix quickly:

  • The token (the authentication to CleverReach) has expired
Excursus Token: The token is the key to your CleverReach account. ChurchTools uses this to authenticate itself to CleverReach and to act on your behalf.
  • The scopes (permissions) are not set correctly.

Excursus Scopes: In order for CleverReach to be connected to ChurchTools, an OAuth app has already been created in CleverReach in advance. This app can be provided with so-called scopes. Scopes are basically permissions. This means that when ChurchTools accesses CleverReach, CleverReach uses the set scopes to check whether this action is permitted.

Test #

There is an easy way for you to test the connection to CleverReach in the system settings under Integration. Click on the “Test connection” button and ChurchTools will carry out a few tests. If everything is OK, ChurchTools will show you a green information box to indicate this. If an error occurs or something is wrong, a red box will show you this error with a corresponding note.

1st token expired #

It is possible that the token can no longer be used. The following error message will then be displayed:

CleverReach-Verbindung ist fehlerhaft

Solution: In this case, you need to reconnect your CleverReach account to ChurchTools. To do this, simply click on the “Reconnect” button. You will be redirected to CleverReach, where you must enter your CleverReach account username and password and log in. You will then be automatically redirected back to ChurchTools.

2. set scopes (permissions) #

If the scopes for the functions required by ChurchTools are not correct, the following error message appears when testing in the system settings:

CleverReach-Verbindung Berectigungen fehlerhaft

Solution: The scopes must be set correctly in CleverReach. You can do this as follows:

1) Log in to CleverReach.

2) Go to My account > Extras > REST API.

CleverReach REST API

3) Select the OAuth app that was created for ChurchTools.

4) Assign all scopes and save the new settings.

CleverTeach Scopes

Now the connection from ChurchTools to CleverReach is working again. You can check this by performing another test in the system settings.
