Roles and Role categories – sound very similar, but fulfill completely different tasks in event planning. Both are created in the master data of the Events module.
Role categories are used to summarize individual Roles of a task area in order to gain a better overview. They are displayed in columns in the duty roster.
An example: 
- Program
- Technics
- Music
- Welcome Team

Roles are tasks that are filled by people involved in the event. They are displayed one below the other in the column of the assigned Role categories and can be used in any number of events.
In our example: 
- Preaching and leadership in the Role categorie Program
- Sound, light and projector in the Role categorie Technics
- Worship Leader, Vocal 1, Vocal 2 and A-Guitar in the Role categories Music
- Stewards Team Leader, Steward 1 and Steward 2 in the Welcome Team Role categories
