How to set up posts for my groups

2 min. read

If the post function for your group is enabled by the administrator of your ChurchTools, you as the group leader can edit the settings for posts that are created in your group.

You can completely (de)activate the function for your group or define who can create posts in your group. You can also set standards for who can see the posts and whether comments are allowed.

You can access all of these settings by opening your group (1) and navigating to Posts (3) in the Settings (2).

Enable and disable posts #

To (de)activate posts for your group, simply click on the button (De)activate posts.

Permission to create #

You can define which group members are allowed to create posts. This permission is linked to the role that the group member has.
Use the sliders to define which role a group member must have to be allowed to create posts.

Default settings for posts in your group #

Visibility of posts #

You can specify which visibility should be preselected when creating new posts for your group. Here you can set whether the default visibility should be Only group members or whether the default visibility of the posts should be based on the Visibility of the group. However, the author of the post ultimately decides which visibility to choose.

If you increase the visibility of your group, the visibility of all posts in your group is automatically set from Same as group to Only group members. This is a security measure to prevent content from being accidentally shared with more people than intended. Of course, you can adjust the visibility of the posts again afterwards.

Comments #

You can preselect whether posts can be commented on by your group members or not. But here too, the author decides whether to allow comments or not.

Short request to share #

If you want your group members to use posts, you can add a text in the Short Prompt setting which will be displayed to your group members when they click on the Posts tab in the group.
