In this article, we explain how to create and edit people as content on your website.
We show you how to add users who can edit your website in the article How to add users for our ChurchTools Website? And if you want to create/edit posts, events or groups, we will help you in the article How to create and edit posts, events and groups?
Import or create yourself? #
Posts from groups, dates for upcoming events and services, people and public groups can be automatically imported from your ChurchTools into the Website every 30 minutes and kept up to date. This means you no longer have to create this content for your website yourself.
You will find imported posts, events, people and groups listed in the admin area of your ChurchTools Website in the left-hand menu under the corresponding menu item. They are already pre-filled so that the content is ready for publication straight away. Of course, you can still adjust details, but many fields are read-only on the website and must therefore be changed in ChurchTools. To do this, you can go directly to the linked content in ChurchTools or copy the corresponding link to forward it to the person responsible for the content.
You can use posts, dates, people and groups you have created yourself for static information. Make sure that you keep them up to date, as this does not happen automatically. You can also find all self-created content under the corresponding menu items on the left-hand side in the admin area.
Import persons #
We explain exactly how the import of content from your ChurchTools into the website works in the article on importing data from ChurchTools.
The personal data is not published immediately, but is first imported and saved with the status Draft. Only when you explicitly release the person’s data for publication on the website will it be visible on the website.
Create persons yourself #
You can create people under the menu item People (1) using the Create person button (2) at the top left.

Edit people #
Regardless of whether you create a new person or edit an imported or existing person by clicking on the title, the same editing window opens, which we will show you in more detail below.
At the top you enter the personal data (1), upload a picture (2) and have the option of assigning tags (3) to the person, e.g. youth for the youth pastor, which can be filtered by. You can also enter further information (4).
Under Description (5), enter a short text for the person.
Use the buttons (6) to determine whether the inserted information should be displayed on the website or not.

Saving and publishing people #
Persons released in ChurchTools and imported into the website always have the status Draft and are not published.
If you save (1) a person you have created yourself, it is also not yet published, but is saved with the status Draft.
If you actually want to take the person’s data live once you have obtained their permission, click on Publish (2) in the same place.

Duplicate or delete persons #
Using the context menu at the end of a person’s line, you can duplicate the person, unpublish them or delete them.
