We&#8217;re happy to help you!<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Requirements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a prerequisite for using your own <strong>domain<\/strong> to access the ChurchTools website, you have to set the following settings for your domain:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A-record entries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and CNAME records (canonical name)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both must point to the ChurchTools infrastructure. This is necessary for the accessibility of the website and for ChurchTools to be able to request valid SSL certificates for HTTPS access to the website.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">All websites are delivered with www. at the beginning. An automatic redirect from <code>kirche.de<\/code> to <code>www.kirche.de<\/code> or <code>meinestadt.kirche.de<\/code> to <code>www.meinestadt.kirche.de<\/code> is available, so that everyone can easily find the website.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Important to know<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you have your own <strong>(sub)domain<\/strong> e.g. <code>church.de<\/code>, the website will be accessible via <code>church.de<\/code> and <code>www.church.de<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not possible to make a website accessible only via <code>www.church.de<\/code>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>CNAME entries<\/strong> for validating the SSL certificates, start with <code>_acme-challenge<\/code>. These are needed to validate with the certificate provider (Let&#8217;s Encrypt) that ChurchTools is allowed to request certificates for the desired domain (and\/or www-subdomain).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>DNS entries<\/strong> must remain in place as long as the domain is required for the ChurchTools website. The SSL certificates are valid for 90 days each and will be renewed automatically by ChurchTools. If you remove the <code>_acme-challenge<\/code> entries, the certificate cannot be renewed and will become invalid after 90 days at the latest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is not possible to offer a ChurchTools website without an SSL certificate.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">The <strong>changes to the DNS settings described in the next section are effective immediately<\/strong>. So if your previous website is accessible under, for example, <code>www.my-church.de<\/code> and you adjust the DNS settings for this domain, then the previous page can no longer be accessed under this domain.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which DNS entries must be set?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The DNS entries below are required to make the ChurchTools website available via your own domain or subdomain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Simple domain (e.g. <code>church.de<\/code>)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case you have to create <strong>two A-Records<\/strong> with the two public IP-addresses of the ChurchTools website loadbalancer:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><code>church.co.uk<\/code> =&gt; <code>159.69.173.172<\/code><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><code>church.de<\/code> =&gt; <code>159.69.173.173<\/code><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, <strong>three CNAME records<\/strong> are needed.
