Add a new accounting year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Navigate to <em><strong>Finance<\/strong><\/em> (1) &gt; <em><strong>Master data<\/strong><\/em> (2) &gt; <em><strong>Accounting years<\/strong><\/em> (3) and open the <em><strong>dialogue box<\/strong><\/em> (4) to add a new accounting year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"940\" height=\"221\" src=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-404.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-404.png 940w, https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-404-300x71.png 300w, https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-404-768x181.png 768w, https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-404-360x85.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the dialogue window you can preconfigure the new accounting year with the following options:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which <em>year<\/em>? (1)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Which <em>client<\/em>? (2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has the accounting year already been <em>closed<\/em>? (3)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should the transactions be automatically assigned <em>consecutive document numbers<\/em>? (4)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Should existing <em>master data be transferred<\/em>? (5) &nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">You can only transfer master data if you enter a year that directly follows an existing accounting year.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Should opening balance sheet values be created? Create opening balance sheet values<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To start the new accounting year with the correct account balances of your bank and cash accounts, it is necessary to enter opening balances for these accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can enter the values manually or automatically, depending on whether you selected the option when creating the accounting year or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">The opening balance values (OB values) should always be entered on the 1st of January of the new accounting year and all other transactions from 2nd of January onwards. This ensures that the account balances are calculated correctly.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.1 Manual OB value entry<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you want to enter the OB values manually, create an entry with the required value (5) for each account (3) to which you want to enter an OB value, dated the 1st of January (1). The offset account (4) for the OB values is always the account carryforward account (9000).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"622\" height=\"381\" src=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-405.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16578\" srcset=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-405.png 622w, https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-405-300x184.png 300w, https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/image-405-360x221.png 360w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 622px) 100vw, 622px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2.2 Automatic entry of OB values<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To have the OB values entered automatically, you have to select the corresponding option when adding the accounting year (see above point 1).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">You can only have the OB values entered automatically if you transfer the master data from the previous year to your new accounting year.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>In this case, after adding the new accounting year, a new window is displayed in which you select all accounts for which you want to automatically enter OB values. On the right-hand side you will see the closing balances of the accounts that will be entered as OB values.
