This article will help you get off to a good start. If you would like to delve even deeper into the possibilities that ChurchTools Website offers you, you can find all the other help pages in the <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/website-en\/\">Website<\/a> category.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Commission test website and issue approvals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To start, get a trial version of the ChurchTools Website. To do this, go to the <em>Public Relations<\/em> section of your ChurchTools via the <em>Manage menu<\/em>. Under <em>ChurchTools Website<\/em>, click on the <em>Start free trial<\/em> button.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find detailed instructions for this step in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/first-steps-website\/getting-started-with-churchtools-website\/#0-toc-title\">Starting a free trial of your ChurchTools Website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before your website is deployed to you, you will be prompted to grant permissions for public group <em>posts<\/em>, public <em>calendar<\/em> appointments, <em>contacts<\/em> and public <em>groups<\/em> so that the data can be automatically imported and synchronized into your ChurchTools Website.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have given your approval, you can start your test phase by clicking on the <em>Start free test phase<\/em> button again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find all the information about this in the same article as above under <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/first-steps-website\/getting-started-with-churchtools-website\/#1-toc-title\">Granting approvals<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#22c55e;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#dcfce7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Tip<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">We advise you to take the time to do this now, as you will then have suitable data from your congregation on your website to fill your first pages.  <br><br>This content is automatically synchronized with ChurchTools. If something is entered, changed or deleted in ChurchTools, the synchronized data and thus the content on the website is adjusted accordingly. This means that your website keeps itself up to date and the administration effort for you is very low.    <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. First log in and introduction to ChurchTools Website<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You have given the necessary approvals in ChurchTools and ChurchTools has informed you that your website is ready for you? Then log in via the <em>Configure website<\/em> button in the admin area of your website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start setting up your website, the article <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/first-steps-website\/14-introduction-to-churchtools-website-and-the-adminsettings\/\">Introduction to ChurchTools Website and the admin area<\/a> will give you a brief introduction to the concept behind the ChurchTools Website and an overview of your admin area, which you can use to manage and design your website. Take your time to look around and familiarize yourself with the admin area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Import data and publish personal data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Are you logged in to the website and have you familiarized yourself with the admin area? Then use this step to upload your previously approved data to the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As long as you are testing the website, trigger the import of the previously released data manually. To do this, call up the settings in the admin area of your website in the menu on the left-hand side and select data import. You can transaction the license for the website in your ChurchTools either directly in <em>Public Relations<\/em> in the <em>overview<\/em> of the <em>ChurchTools Website<\/em> or in the <em>system settings<\/em> under <em>License<\/em>.   <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Posts<\/em>, <em>calendars<\/em> and <em>groups<\/em> imported from ChurchTools have the status <em>Published<\/em> on the website immediately. They are visible without you having to do anything else. The situation is different with personal data.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imported <em>personal data<\/em> is not published immediately, but is initially only imported and saved with the status <em>Draft<\/em>. Only once you have obtained the person&#8217;s consent and explicitly released the person&#8217;s data for publication on the website will it be visible on the website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, navigate to <em>People<\/em> via the menu on the left-hand side. Use the <em>checkboxes<\/em> to select the people whose data you want to publish and click on <em>Publish<\/em>. Discover ChurchTools Website with your own data<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have imported your data and published the personal data, open your website. Don&#8217;t worry, you can adjust both in the next steps to suit your congregation best.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will also show you how to customize what is displayed in the <em>header<\/em> and <em>footer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To help you get started with the ChurchTools Website, we have preconfigured elements on the <em>start page<\/em>, some of which are already filled with your data and will help you to quickly create your own website. Define settings<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you start editing and creating the web pages, first adjust the website in the settings so that it suits you and becomes yours. We have linked articles on the relevant terms for you to read. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, go back to the <em>admin area<\/em> and call up the <em>settings<\/em> via the menu on the left-hand side.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <em>general settings<\/em>, you can enter <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/general-settings\/14-how-to-change-the-title-of-the-website\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-und-finder\/allgemeine-einstellungen\/8-wie-andere-ich-den-titel-der-website\/\">the title and URL of your website<\/a>, your congregation&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/general-settings\/14-store-contact-details\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-und-finder\/allgemeine-einstellungen\/8-kontaktdaten-hinterlegen\/\">details<\/a>, your privacy policy, <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/allgemeine-einstellungen\/wo-lade-ich-unser-logo-fuer-die-website-hoch\/\">logos<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/general-settings\/14-link-social-media-channels\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-und-finder\/allgemeine-einstellungen\/8-social-media-kanale-verknupfen\/\">links to your social media accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/design-settings\/14-how-to-change-the-design-of-my-website\/\">Design<\/a><\/em> you select the style and typography of your <em>theme<\/em> and lay the foundation for the <em>color<\/em> <em>scheme<\/em> of your website with the <em>color scheme<\/em>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">This color scheme is the basis for the adjustable <em>color style<\/em> of all content and pages. This ensures that all content and pages on your website match and that there is no confusion. <\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>Next to it you set for the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wie-passe-ich-die-kopfzeile-meiner-website-an\/\">header<\/a><\/em>, decide whether the header should be fixed at the top of the browser when scrolling and add your <em>logo <\/em>and <em>call-to-action elements<\/em> to the header under <em>Content<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the <em>page content<\/em>, you also set the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wo-passe-ich-den-farbstil-der-seiteninhalte-an\/\">design options<\/a><\/em> which can be adjusted separately for each website according to the <em>color scheme<\/em>. You also have the option here of adding a <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wie-fuege-ich-einen-zurueck-nach-oben-button-ein\/\">Back to top button<\/a><\/em> or <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/einstellungen-website\/14-what-is-a-placeholder-and-how-to-add-one\/\">placeholder images<\/a><\/em> for content that is automatically displayed if displayed content has no images.  Below you have various setting options for <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/welche-personendaten-duerfen-angezeigt-werden\/\">personal data, <\/a><\/em>the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wodurch-koennen-inhalte-meiner-website-geteilt-werden\/\">sharing of content, <\/a><\/em>the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wie-waehle-ich-standardelemente-fuer-seitenleisten-aus\/\">sidebar<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wie-passe-ich-ergaenzungen-fuer-termin-titel-fuer-meine-website-an\/\">additions for event titles, <\/a><\/em>which can be transferred from ChurchTools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below <em><a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-and-finder\/seiteneinstellungen\/wie-passe-ich-die-fusszeile-meiner-website-an\/\">Footer<\/a><\/em> you first define the <em>design<\/em> and then have the option to enter a <em>text<\/em> that will be displayed in the footer if you have selected the <em>Advanced<\/em> view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Save your settings, look at the preconfigured pages on your website again and adjust the settings until you are satisfied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Edit and publish pages<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have all the settings been saved and the design selected? Then we will guide you through all the preconfigured pages below and explain how to edit them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To do this, call up the <em>Pages<\/em> (1) item via the menu on the left-hand side. Here you will find all existing pages in a list.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can change the position of the pages using the <em>buttons<\/em> (2) to the left of the titles.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To edit a page, simply click on it, use the <em>three-dot menu<\/em> to create a <em>subordinate entry <\/em>(3) for this page or <em>delete<\/em> it (4).  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the button at the top right to create <em>new pages<\/em> (5). It is the first thing that people who visit your website will see. Your homepage should give a brief overview of the church life of your congregation and contain important information, such as the time and place of the service.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will receive your ChurchTools Website with a preset start page. The start page behaves like any other page, but you cannot delete it. On this <em>portal page<\/em>, we have included various <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/pages\/14-what-are-elements\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/help\/website-und-finder\/seitenleiste-website\/8-was-sind-elemente\/\">elements<\/a> to show you what you could use to build a website.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To edit the start page, click on the <em>start page<\/em> in the <em>page list<\/em>, switch to the <em>live preview<\/em> and adjust the size of the editing and display windows to suit your needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"wp-block-group ct-box ct-box-blue has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-002f1c27 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"border-radius:8px;border-left-color:#3e70ce;border-left-width:0.5rem;background-color:#f3f5f7;margin-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60);margin-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--60)\">\n<p style=\"margin-top:0.5rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0rem;margin-left:0.5rem\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"margin-top:0rem;margin-right:0.5rem;margin-bottom:0.5rem;margin-left:0.5rem\">The <em>live preview<\/em> is only displayed once you have saved a page at least once.<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <em>General<\/em>, adjust the <em>title<\/em> of the page, the <em>link extension<\/em> and the <em>parent page<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now go through the <em>page content<\/em> element by element, adjust everything for you, remove what you don&#8217;t want using the <em>three-dot menus<\/em> and add elements using the small <em>+ symbols<\/em> if you are missing something. You will always find the <em>+ symbol<\/em> at the end of the list. Use the <em>+ symbol<\/em> to add further elements if you need them. If you would like to find out exactly what the page header is, you will find it in the article <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-und-finder\/seiten-website\/8-was-ist-der-seitenkopf\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/de\/help\/website-und-finder\/seiten-website\/8-was-ist-der-seitenkopf\/\">What is the page header?<\/a>   <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to change the color style of your start page, you can do so under <em>Color styles<\/em> within the framework of your <em>color scheme<\/em> defined in the <em>design settings<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After <em>saving<\/em>, you can make your changes live by clicking on the <em>Publish<\/em> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Edit news, dates and groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These pages are <em>overview pages<\/em> on which your current posts, events and public groups are displayed.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To edit them, click on the relevant page in the list under <em>Pages<\/em> and then switch back to the <em>live preview<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <em>General<\/em>, adjust the <em>title<\/em> of the page, the <em>link extension<\/em> and the <em>parent page<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under <em>List<\/em>, you define a <em>heading<\/em> and use <em>tags<\/em> to select which <em>posts<\/em>, <em>events<\/em> or <em>groups<\/em> should be displayed, which <em>filter selection<\/em> should be available to visitors and define the <em>design<\/em> of the page content. For the display of events, you also specify a <em>time period<\/em> under <em>Further settings<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delete the information texts displayed on the pages under <em>Additional content (optional)<\/em> and use the <em>editor<\/em> to create your own additional content with a <em>heading<\/em> and <em>additional heading<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After <em>saving<\/em>, take your changes live again by clicking on the <em>Publish<\/em> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Edit privacy policy and imprint<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The links to the <em>Privacy Policy<\/em> and <em>Imprint<\/em> pages are already stored in the footer navigation. You can also find both pages in the page list and edit them like any other <em>standard page<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the <em>page content<\/em> of the <em>Privacy Policy<\/em> page you will find a suggested text from us that you can adapt for your congregation. Then insert the link to your privacy policy as a new navigation element. Customize all other tabs, save and publish your changes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Deleting the demo pages<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, delete all demo pages using the <em>three-dot menus<\/em> at the end of the rows or redesign the pages as you need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Edit navigation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you edited all the pages, deleted unnecessary ones and possibly created new ones? Then now is the time to adjust the navigation of your website to make your pages accessible to your website visitors. You can do this by adding navigation elements to the header and footer of your website to guide visitors through the content.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the menu on the left-hand side, call up the <em>header<\/em> under <em>Navigation<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The pages preconfigured by us are already inserted in the navigation as navigation elements.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can change their position using the <em>buttons<\/em> to the left of the titles by grabbing the button with the mouse and moving the element.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can <em>edit<\/em> an element by clicking on the title.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the <em>three-dot menus<\/em> to delete the selected element or add subordinate links or elements to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the <em>Add navigation element<\/em> button to select whether you want to <em>add<\/em> a new <em>navigation element<\/em> or <em>select<\/em> a <em>page<\/em> to which a link will then be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To add a navigation element, enter a <em>heading<\/em> and an internal or external <em>URL<\/em> and specify whether the URL should be opened in a new window.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select pages from the list that opens and confirm your choice by clicking the <em>Select<\/em> button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have <em>saved<\/em> your changes, proceed in the same way with the <em>footer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find detailed instructions on how to do this in the article on <a href=\"https:\/\/churchtools.academy\/en\/help\/website-and-finder\/navigation-website-en\/14-what-is-the-navigation-menu\/\">editing the navigation menu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8.
